April in Korea isn't just beautiful — it's arguably the best month to be on a bike. Temperatures hover between 12–22°C and the country's riverside paths turn pink and white with blossoms. Here are the 5 routes worth riding before the petals fall.

1. Han River (Seoul) — 56 km, Easy

Yeouido Spring Flower Festival (usually April 8–15) is the most accessible blossom ride in Korea. Start at Banpo Bridge and ride through Yeouido island under a canopy of white cherry trees. The dedicated riverside path keeps you away from traffic the entire way.

Logistics: Bike rentals at Yeouido dock (₩6,000/hr). Arrive before 10am on weekends to beat the crowds.

Blossom window: April 5–15, 2026.

2. Seomjin River — 149 km, Moderate

The Ssangcheong–Hadong section forms a 10 km overhead blossom tunnel — arguably the most beautiful stretch of cycling in Korea. Cherry trees arch over the path for several kilometres, creating a natural cathedral effect. Allow 2 days. Overnight in Hadong at a guesthouse near the river.

Logistics: KTX to Jeonju → bus to Ssangcheong. Return bus Hadong → Busan KTX.

Blossom window: April 7–17, 2026.

3. Nakdong River — 324 km, Moderate

Cherry trees line the Daegu–Miryang stretch in spectacular fashion. Daegu hosts a spring cycling event in April and the flat riverside path makes the blossoms accessible even for less-experienced riders. Best ridden over 3–4 days.

Blossom window: April 3–12, 2026 (earlier than Seoul due to lower latitude).

4. Yeongsan River — 133 km, Easy

Gwangju's Sajik Park has dense cherry blossoms and the Yeongsan River path passes directly through. Flat, well-signposted, and consistently underrated by foreign cyclists who head north instead.

Logistics: KTX to Gwangju Songjeong. Return from Mokpo by KTX.

Blossom window: April 5–14, 2026.

5. Bukhan River — 99 km, Easy

Seoul to Chuncheon through pine forests and cherry-lined valleys. The Uiamho Lake section near Chuncheon is stunning in early April — calm water reflecting pink blossoms with mountains behind.

Logistics: Start at Cheongpyeong station (ITX from Cheongnyangni). Return by ITX from Chuncheon.

Blossom window: April 8–18, 2026.
